Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP)
 

NCBA-SCSEP, sponsored by the National Caucus & Center on Black Aged Inc., is one of eighteen (18) national grantees authorized by the U.S. Department of Labor to administer the Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP). Funded under Title V of the Older Americans Act and administered through the Department of Labor, SCSEP provides part-time work experience training in community service for low-income persons over the age of 55. This program also provides work and income to participants who, through their work assignments with community agencies, make valuable contributions to hundreds of communities. The over 90,000 SCSEP Participants enrolled annually nationwide provide services that benefit both the general and elderly communities.

NCBA-SCSEP operates in 8 states including the District of Columbia and provides training assignments to over 2,000 older workers at State or Federal minimum wage, whichever is higher. SCSEP projects are also sponsored by seventeen (17) other national organizations and by the 50 state governors. The other national organizations are:

  • Quality Career Services, Inc. (QCSI)
  • Senior Service America, Inc. (SSAI)
  • SER-Jobs for Progress National, Inc. (SER)
  • The Workplace, Inc (TWI)
  • Vermont Associates for training and Development, Inc. (VATD)
